If you really think about the challenges associated with becoming a good leader, almost every one of them is associated with either our own behavior change or supporting others as they change their behavior.  Human behavior, the study and understanding of it is central to what a leader does every day.

So habits are central to what we do as leaders because a large portion of the activities that any human executes each day are driven by their habits; not choices, not what’s in their best interest, not what will make them the most successful or get the best results, but just the habits they already have.  If we want to help them change those patterns of behavior and become more successful, we have to understand what habits are and how they work and how to shift them so lets start with what habits are.

About the author

I’ve had the privilege of coaching hundreds of leaders in all kinds of different businesses. Every day I get to help leaders and organizations create their best future. I also led my own teams in the corporate world for decades and I know how hard leadership can be. I am still learning every day but after conducting over 5,000 executive coaching conversations, I want to share the insights and tools that I know work for great leaders. Leadership is not a gift, it’s a set of thoughts we create, actions we take and habits we build to get consistently better results.
